If you're a power gamer and you want the best performance you can get, go for the FX5600.
Otherwise, it's not really worth the cash.
If you're the serious gamer, then get the 5900 Ultra.
If your serious:
Nvidia Geforce FX 5900 Ultra (better picture)
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (better speed)
I'd say they are the AMD and Intel or the graphics cards industry.
if you're a gamer but have to be thinking about cost then the 5600 is a very good option if you can get one made by the right people.
for example, i have a 5600 made by Sapphire and it comes with a bundle of software including an overclock disc. the overclock utilities are very, very easy to use and allow you to push your 5600 card very far with no danger.
the performance increase is quite amazing.
