    uninstall everything that is not needed in order to post. ie: cdrom, dvdrom, fd, nic, soundcard. try to install os with just 1 (that is if u have 2x512 or not) stick of ur ram. if lockup occurs try using just the other. if lockup still occurs use a different hdd. maybe throw that hdd from ur new rig into the one ur using to access these forums and see if u can install os on it from the other pc. 60 degrees is fine for that cpu for it gets hot. just to add in u can use a cd for memtest as well.

    The CPU most certainly should NOT be as hot as that.

    It may get as hot as that when running at full speed, but there's no way it should be anything approaching that sort of temperature when just running bios diagnostics.

    My guess is that it is tripping temperature overload and shutting down.

    Did you remember to use thermal compound between the processor and the heatsink, and if so what sort did you use and how did you apply it?
