Whyd you buy registered ram? and 2GB...what kind of stuff do you do?
Because he wanted to spend money. We advised him (well at least me) to buy AthlonXP...all the usual stuff. But he wanted tops. I was surprised, but I wouldave probably bought 2GB of RAM on my current computer if I had the money. RAM is important and we all know we get hogged a lot hehehe [/b][/quote]
The Athlon 64-FX requires registered DDR RAM. I got 2GB because with more RAM you nearly always see an improvement. Plus, I had a choice. 1GB extra RAM or a DVD RW.

It works

EDIT: The only problem is a clicky hard drive. But then again, who cares when you got 7.1 speakers...

The subwoofer rules. Bang up the bass and you can feel the air coming through it.

EDIT2: @VB: I'm running Windows XP Pro right now. I'll get hold of a copy of the 64-bit windows XP when it comes out.

my western digital 250GB s-ata drive (wd2500jd) is extremely quiet...is there any possibility of changing the drive?
On a given day or given circumstance, you think you have a limit.
And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit and you think "Ok, this is the limit".
As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further.

I think I'll manage, I really can't be bothered repackaging it and sending it back. I'll get used to it, or get my 7.1s to blare it out

Aquamark 3 and SiSoft Sandra on their way soon. The AIDA 32 benchmarks (memory read/write) came out as read just a few MB below the 64-FX they had posted which may be because I had a couple of background apps running, but the write came out as quite a bit higher.
