Thread: Sicko's Part Iii

Getting rid of these sickos is so important on many fronts. Children being exploited is just plain wrong. Is there a better reason to stop it? Even hard-core convicts in the criminal justice system 'perform' their own type of justice on those convicted of these crimes. For those of you that don't like to get invloved and think someone else will do it, that may not be the case. If you have the attitude that if its not hurting you, I am not going to do anything, that is the cowards way out. But remember this!!! The easiest way for p2p to be shutdown is blatant abuse by those who share kiddie porn. Breaching copyright laws is one thing, exploiting children is another. From a father of 4, everyone needs to help stop this menace.

I said it before and I will say it again- while people whine on about slow download speeds, and the "shut down" of kazaa, don't people see that this is a potential media disaster? I mean for real, what if say CNN found out that these people aren't using websites anymore, that they are using p2p facilities? That would not bode well.

Since we ALL use this network we ALL have a responsibility to keep it clean.

I do not condone child pornography in any way, but I am personally more affected by privacy issues than child porn. I've found child porn, gay porn, beastiality, and many other wrongly named files I wouldn't want in my shared folder, and deleted them once discovered.
If someone who read this thread were to see these files, and alert me, I would delete the files. Now- if they checked back in 2 weeks, I may have accidentally downloaded some other files that were wrongly named. I would then be reported to police. My privacy would be violated, I could be watched by authorities, and I may even have to explain to authorities why I had these files- even though I didn't want these files in the first place. I may have done a search for "Barney" and gotten a file with that name- that showed barney in a sexual act with a juvenile. In the description, it may say child porn, but I'm not as anal about checking file details as some people. I have a fast connection and don't care too much if I download a file I have to delete later.
By employing these practices, you are taking a vigilante stance, and in so doing, violating the privacy of other users. Where do you find time to police the p2p network?
Perhaps there is a better way to stop the spread of child porn- like a filter compiled into the kazaa code filtering files that have the words 'child' and 'porn' in them simultaneously?

Can I make the analogy that what you are doing is like reporting the retired couple that lives down the street for the pot plant they had no idea was growing at the back of their yard?

I'll go bury my head in the sand know so I can get flamed.

I have been using P2P for awhile now and have found that people name files several things, for instance:
something like: porn, qwerty, gay, horse, dog, cat, ect............
But the original title was nothing more than: "hot blond gives head" (and this is what it is, nothing more than regular, joe-blow porn)
Do people purposely mis-name files to attract a wider "variety" of creeps?

You know what else is sick, is that I downloaded the movie "The Hulk (2003)". Okay, it took the entire night on DSL, while sleeping, to download it. The next morning, I saw "completed" in my traffic window. I also saw that a dozen other users were currently downloading it from me.

Cool, I got the new movie. WRONG! Some idiot took a porno movie and renamed it as "The Hulk (2003)". Thank goodness the actors in it were adults. Of course I kept the movie, I am an adult you know. I do like normal porn on occasion, but now I am afraid to even think about what I could have been downloading.

I usually select a few files for download, turn the monitor off and god to bed. The next morning, most of the files are complete.

I don't know if it's to attract more creeps, I just thought they were a**holes with a bad sense of humor. People seem to enjoy naming files incorrectly, and folks waste a lot of time DL'ing files- just to delete them later.

I usually do use AVI Preview. Sometimes I don't. When I don't is when I have so many DAT files and only one or two of them are actual AVI files. I don't want to bother guessing which one is the correct AVI.

Why warn these people?. You are giving them a chance to escape by giving them time to remove that stuff from there PC & try to cover thier tracks. They would get one helluva shock if the police suddenly of the blue turned up at there door. They would literaly CRAP themsevles.
