My sister is always complaining how I never let her on my pc because she wants to be able to go on the internet. How would I connect the laptop to my pc to allow my sister to use the internet? what hardware do I need? (maybe someone could suggest good hardware from here)
Also it doesnt have to be amazing stuff, it just needs to be basic because I am wanting to keep the price down. It must be wireless

wireless router and pcmcia wireless card, probably about £70
linksys router
wireless card
or you couldgo for a wireless pci card in the pc, but if you intend to get another computer or anything, the router will be a good investment
wireless pci card

cheapest way would be a wireless pci card in the pc, and wireless pcmcia card in laptop, if they have spare ports.

a couple of wireless adt will do the trick
then just use windows network wiz and kaboom, you have shared internet
just a note if you want to use a cable to join 2 computers together, you must use a crossconnect cable and not a standard network cable. this will connect your ethernet port to your laptop easy

you could get what livy posted, but I would rather but a router also to go with the wireless network so that the internet connection will always be on and your computer doesnt have to be on for your sister to use it.
the modem will plug into the router and the two computers have wireless cards which connect back to the router. You enter your ISP username and password into the router setup and it keeps the connection on all of the time, and will connect it up after the power has gone out within a few seconds.
