There's an option in Zone Alarm to block animations... Find it and turn if off(I think it's in the ad blocking bit somewhere). When you've done that you might have to clear your temporary internet files but it should work.

Cleared all temp int files, then went to Windows Configuration Utility ans turned off Zone Alarm. Then restarted fresh with cleared temp files and Zone Alarm not running but the problem persists.
