Ideas To Increase Traffic/activity

Basically, if ppl could go a little bit easier on new folks
would probably help them stay too, or post.
Little more anyone?

Maybe its just me or does it seems that if we have a some sort of problem we get a lot of
hostile posting? Not too many ppl are willing to discuss teh problem with a civil manners,
too busy looking kool with flaming... a script, anyone?


New folks look at how things goes about and desices not to post in the fear of been flamed. Unfortunately i cannot back this theory up with paperwork or statistical numbers. Tought it was worth to mention.

I agree teh scam adds should be removed, makes teh board look very bad supporting scams.
If the Bride banner wasn't good enuff, we need to find something similar.

If Guest and Members could post in the Guest area, that could get some new folks here,
or it could scare ppl too, lol, (probably not as much teh Lounge though)
Might be a good idea to try it, maybe it works in a good way.

Having pr0n here would attract the sickos in here too, im against that stuff,
there's enuff pr0n on the net.

I have only come into this thread to say what I think before, what looks like my final departure..


ANTI-SPAM: I was one of the first ones to complain about this feature, mainly because that it appeared to be hitting me more than most. I was ignored. Nothing new there. I left the forum for a few days and was informed that there had been an improvement. I came back and for a couple of weeks it appeared that there was. Then it hit me harder than ever. I complained again. Jetje was the only one that was replying to my complaints. I have since left and have no intention of coming back until this feature has been removed.

The thing that is hurting me most is that a couple of my so called friends are now questioning my integrity on this matter. I do not lie. I also found it interesting that one of the advertisers at the top of the forum page advertises anti spam software. Is it rocket science for Marc to change the script from America. I think not.

THE FORUM: This is another thing I complained about a while back about the disappearance of so many good members. Also the decline in the number of posts. Now it appears as if it is being noticed.

I dont like the implications, in my opinion, of charges in any way whatsoever. Please remember that the files on this site belong to the members. They can withdraw these files at a moments notice and you will be left with a big fat zero.
There are far too many forums and admin/mods who think that their position allows them to ignore the wishes of the members. It has been happening on this forum, and if it continues it will result in catastrophe.

The decline in the forum this year alone must be about 30% or more in post counts. Find out the reason why before you lose any more by catering or bowing to non members.

I may have gone out on the wrong tack here if so I apologise. But it has given me a chance to air my views on some of the things I think are wrong. Then I have achieved something

That might make sense if only the new people were really new.

Half the so-called new people are old members with different accounts. You probably got a few "new" accounts yourself, one will never know.

And being a soft ass does not help because then n00bs only get worse. You think it's a game? Go in an irc chatroom and ask some of the stupid questions that I hear in this forum and I bet you that it can be over 100 people in that channel and no one will answer. Simply because........people should know better.

I'm sure you are used to babysitting and enforcing because your job is a mod. But some people do not care to.

PS I'd be more concerend about the lack of damned songs on KL lately.

Why can't we get the number of K/L users above the 2.5 to 3.5 million ?

So many members seem to be saying they use other progs, surely the whole key to a good file sharing prgram is the number of users and the number of good files.

KL has 2/3 million, Blubster has only 250,000 on line. So how can that be any good ? WinMX does not say how many are on line.

Well, what can i say, Im not here 24/7, i will miss some important topics sometimes.
Sometimes im not here for days, and end up catching up on the issues for a long
time when i log on.
Im not the best character for Mod probably, surely many are questioning why teh hell that
dude is a Mod.
However, i dont try to ignore topics here just because they are hot or whatnot.
I do what i can for free hoping im somewhat usefull.
I didnt ask for this job, I got recommended, supported and asked to moderate teh MusicWorld,
(probably because of my knowhow on some music stuff) accepted the "Job" and here i am. There's been chances on the forum, things move on and
later I found myself promoted to a Wholeboard Moderator, not really a pleasant job
sometimes, i must admit,
I wish i only had to move some topics and answer some questions
and that this job would be an easy task but it is not.


I dont know if 7th. has read his mail yet and knows that we here want his script removed. Im just trying to be positive about it
and hopefully we get to fix the problem eventually.
About the Ignorance, I dont believe that it is so hardly supported by Mods
as bigboab is saying, i would say you are generalizing a little bit with the "nothin new there" comment.
Im not here to Ignore you bigboab or anyone else.

That generalizing happens in the board too,
lets say (im not talking about the script issue now) there is something about
5 members in here wants to see to happen, i get to see ppl posting in behalf of
all members, which is quite misleading, just because few ppl wants something, does
not make it so that it is everybody's opinion. If that seems to be the case (for me)
i choose to wait and see where the thread is going, I think its best to see
more opinions about the matter before taking action. Sometimes it is needed to
do some research to undestand the issue, to see the picture as a whole,
that can take some time, reading all posts regarding to the subject at hand
before coming to an opinion/action.

Yesterday, Adster (and some other folks) had a problem with IE not loading the page (probably still has)
It looked like everything is mufucto at some point but in the end, Adster got the issue
somewhat solved. I understand the Script is annoyance, just like the Adsters IE-issue but at the this point the Problem-Script still here and it will be removed later on,
when exactly it will be removed i dont know.

Btw bigboab, have you given the Firefox browser a go? Try it out, that could
help on your script issue, im not sure tho.

Things dont always work as fast someone would want to, but then again,
this is not IRC, no real-time action-counteraction.
There aint too many IRC rooms i like or hang on to. Im sure there is cool chatrooms out there,
but im so use to SS and doing my IRC-type-of-chatting over there.
I use to check the IRC-room that was linked from this board, there was not too much
to look at for me. But thats just me. I support nice convos & ppl been nice to each other,
I dont see anything wrong with that,
Atleast, i'd rather be a SoftAss at the start of the convos, i mean, if a new guy asks
"what is ISO file?" i wouldnt shout stfu, rtfm, fuck you, type of things because you never
know how "noob" the new ppl are.
I have yet to see a post where a new guy asks a question and it will be totally ignored here,
maybe in IRC ppl likes to ignore new folks etc but as i seen it here, new folks get
their answers eventually, good or bad ones.

I got 2 accounts here, the other is for my second PC but i dont use that account much at all. My other account is wlotirjs with 0 posts.
I made it just in case if get trouble login here with GS account.
I agree that some ppl has lot of accounts, maybe even too many,
but thats not said to be a bad thing yet, not many complains about it and i dont
have a problem with it as long as them accounts are made in good spirit so to speak,
if its for to damage the board, rules, or attack our members, then i have a problem with it.

Members are responsible a lot of how things goes about in here,
(For example: the spam-script was added as a result when a member posted a script here
to avoid such automatic spam.)
With their posting members create the atmosphere of the board, is it Hostile or Friendly is
up to individuals to say. I support the more friendly attitude, that should be pretty clear by now.


Mod/Admins do what we can on the problems, it is extremely hard to try to
please all members at the same time.
There is always some issues that could have been done
with better outcome, or faster, but as Mods/Admins are only humans, we do errors just like any other ppl.

bigboab, please dont lose all the hope on the board just yet, I would hate to see you leave,
i also hope we get rid of the script problem ASAP.

@digmen1, its about experience.
In my experience, i found SoulSeek (max 100k users online) to be perfect
for my needs on the music. I get full albums in good enough quality for me to use.
Torrents are faster way to get bigger files, movies, games etc. as it has multisources,
meaning on can dol form many opposed to SoulSeek where one has only source.
I recommend you try some other apps and find the ones that work for You.
Holding onto one p2p-app can be frustrating sometimes, to find a specific file
can be more efficient on other app. you never know before you try.
Here in the board we got pretty good guides how to start Your experimenting.

I got an idea

lets make a "guest guide forum"

it will be kind of like a porn site guest area (except without the porn (or maybe that would attract people...?))

we give them the first few paragraphs of a guide then at the bottom tell them to sign up if they want to see the whole guide

we could also have sample posts and stuff


note: please help me think of a better name then "guest guide forum"


edit: this sounds dumb doesn't it? It seems good/funny when i wrote it but now i don't know. maybe this idea will lead to some better ones

but I think its fine the way it is, guest area would be ok, maybe have rules set up where you can't flame noob's in there
automatic 1 day moderation or something for doing so
maybe increas it if done again
