Seee!!! I was bloody right, I got flamed so bad from Lamsey and 7th and a few others cos I said it does'nt touch the dbOriginally posted by rookiecrd1@24 July 2004 - 14:29
There is no strain on the DB, it's simply replacing one name with another.
There are over 90,000 members registered at this forum. If the Db can handle that, why shouldn't it be able to handle a simply thing like changing a name.
Sheesh

I don't know if it's the same topic, but I remember I participated in a discussion about that... with Lamsey and BB... BB and me also said that it was just one value from the database, it doesn't go off replacing everything with the new name, for instance, if you check old quotes, they will have your old name. That's why it is dynamic, so the information is handled as needed.Originally posted by JONNO_CELEBS@25 July 2004 - 02:26

Hehehe that's a bit of a pain, because since your name is Sparsely when trying to change it to sparsely a message that the name already exists will be displayed, so they will have to give you another name, for instance xxxxxxxx, and then rename you to sparsely, nothing hard, just an extra step.Originally posted by Sparsely@24 July 2004 - 13:15
so you'll change my capital 'S' to a lowercase one?
thx

Well, not really. Only the account itself is deleted. All posts will stay, and the posters name will be non-clickable (like guests).

I didn't say that the posts were deleted, I said the account was deleted... which is what muchspl2 asked.
Untill today I was known as [-Crono-], asked one of the admins to change my name, so it can't be too hard for a name to be changed.
