Errm, slight lapse of brain power, what do they breathe?
Water I would imagine....unless they swim to the surface?

@Manker......Ok, I know nothing about fishing
I quite agree, so far in this thread you've told us that crayfish are from the sea, crayfish don't feel pain and a fish dies 60 seconds after you take it out of water.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -

Ah wait, they breathe air I think, but need to keep the gills moist, so they need water too.
I did it right then
^How I think it is^
Or maybe they breathe both.
They do have gills.

They breathe the disolved oxygen in the water, it's extracted by osmosis when it runs over the almost exposed blood vessels in the gills.

Thanks, that solves that, the question is: should I fill the bucket with water, or just give it enough to keep it's gills moist?
The latter way means it can breathe for a longer time perhaps.
On the other hand it should only be overnight.
It's been out in open air all day I think.

It's in a bucket, the question is if the bucket, it's a not a small one holds enough oxygen for it to survive overnight, I have nothing to oxygenate it.
I suppose I could rig something like a hose and the compressor, but having it on all night for one crawfish wouldn't be practical.

A really big barrel, but it'd be a bitch getting it out.
I meant to say it wasn't a small bucket btw
And it has about an inch of water at the bottom and a little rock to climb up on just in case right now.
