eMule or eDonkey ?

Depends on the client since some clients of emule connect only to edonkey, than i reather use edonkey, but u can modify boath and than connect to torrents or gnutella also.

I don't think there is one better then the other and since I started with Emule..

emule is more in every category in my book.
if you look at your stats you will see that 95%+ clients that connected to you are emule or emule mods.
of course if you want other networks than use other progies, as emule is only for kad and donkey networks
