    @Jp..... No, dude I meant alcove as in chimney alcove, which in 99% of houses goes from floor to cieling same as the room

    @Jp.......Yes I know that ffs but 99% of the time when someone says "Alcove" they are talking about the resess next to or either side of the chimney. Hence me calling it a chimney alcove.
    And what I said still stands.

    Unless it fell down.

    Like I said, where I come from it's different.

    The alcove was usually in a corner and was used as a sort of "dislay case".

    I've never heard the phrase chimney alcove.

    No big deal, we also called the kitchen "the scullery" where I grew up, ken.

    @Both of you...... You're hard work, an alcove can be a cupboard space or any kind of depress in a wall.
    But when most people say Alcove they are talking about.......oh ffs I typed it above, I never said I call it a chimney alcove, I said that actually for clarity knowing manker is an office boy and would'nt understand

    Look, I'm only telling you what we called it. I have never (before today) heard the phrase chimney alcove.
