well i just wanted to check my IP www.whatismyip.com and then i noticed everytime i restarted my computer it changed... is that normal? i have SBC YAHOO DSL....?

Sometimes mine changes but not all the time when i have my router hooked up it doesent change since i manually set my ip.

Unless you have a static one it will change ADSL or not and not all isps let you have static and some make you pay extra for a static ip

It usually doesn't change if your router is hooked up, you turn your pc off you will still have that same public ip. Your connection could either be getting reset or your loosing the connection periodically.

Your ISP probably has a small pool of IPs to use and subsequently is cycling through them everytime you get online.

It's better if it changes, makes you harder to track, for one thing.
Harder to ip-ban, for another.
