Thread: anti-virus software

  1. #11
bitdefender has a free version now, google "bitdefender 10 free". You need to give a real e-mail to get the link but its good for a year and when time is up they will send you a notice so you can get a new key for another year.

I'm using it and the only gripe I have is I can't find a way to tell it to leave certain files alone, so it tags them as viruses and I have to put them back every weekend when I have it schedualed to do a complete scan.

NOD32 is the best. After you install it, you didn't realise it's there.

I'm a long time user of AVG by Grisoft but I recently uninstalled them and switched to Bitdefender free cause AVG was tagging clean keygens on my drive as having trojans, when every other scanner said they were clean. That really pissed me off, I give Grisoft free riegn of my PC and it decides its the internet police and falsely tags files as dangerous because they think I shouldn't have them. Well, they don't have any acces to my PC now, Up yours Grisoft.

How they did it was really stupid too, every few days a new set of keys would be tagged, all by the same maker. First was BRD then ZWT keys and NEO and NoPE and so on and so on. All they were doing was collecting keys by a certain keymaker and tagging parts for detection then adding it to their definitions file as a trojan, it was so obvious and moronic. A child would have seen what was happening, I did! Duh!

Go with Nod or Kaspersky. AVG really isn't that good and tends to miss stuff, or at least it did for me.

Try Bitdefender 10 Free edition, if you don't want to spend any money. And either Nod32 or Kaspersky if you do.
