OK, i have been downloading heaps of mame roms and some work and some dont.
The ones that dont, give me erros about files missing in the roms. I can fix some of them by renaming copying and pasting and the roms work fine an example is marvel superheros vs capcom.
It was something like a 12mb file and after i was done renaming, copying and pasting files it turned into a 40mb rom but it works fine.
I thought maybe they do this to save webspace but then again, i have downloaded some roms that are over 20mb and have no missing files and then their are roms that are 20kbs and have missing files.
It very very poxy and its pissing me off bad.
IS their a rom checker for mame or something ??

Your roms have to match the version of MAME you have. Sometimes when they release a new version, they also change some of the roms to make them work better. There is a repair utility, but I think it's easier just to download the latest version of the roms from Kazaa, eMule, or Suprnova. But if you want to try it, you can get it here...

As far as I know, you can't. As I said before your best bet is to get the latest version of MAME (.80), then either use ClrMamePro to fix your roms, or download new ones. If you have Newsgroup access, try...
alt.binaries.emulators.mame
The best source for MAME info and utilities is...
