    Focus has no bearing on the issue of depth perception. When you chose to "look" at an object, your lens changes shape so that the "target" is in focus on your retina.

    If something is close, the lens needs to bend the light more, so it thickens by contracting the muscles around the lens. If you want to look afar, the muscles relax. This is why reading can cause your eyes to tire, constant contraction of muscles.

    As for depth perception, yes it is lost to some degree, but we compensate by moving our heads, understanding perspective, and other tricks.

    It really affects us in fine motor actions, like threading a needle. Don't let a man with 1 eye be your plastic surgeon.

    can yure brain not work out if the retina bends this much something must be this far away?
