BTW people are missing the point here file sharing is about use people not having to spend money. not about stopping the author/artist/creator from making profit. I think we can all agree they still make stacks of profit.

as I said in my other post which I wrote when drunk apologies it doesn't make since. what I ment to say was I couldn't care less if i gave copies to friends and they copied them for free...... however if they sold them thats another story
it is just wrong too make money out of something thats not yours.

its not hypocritical its 2 different issue peerzy gets software for free )hes a sinner like you and I hehehe) and the other is making profit for something thats not yours peerzy makes no money from pirating he saves it.

what I do is I don't give the friends family whatever the disks I go to their dam house and install it myself and take the disk back home and say thats it if you wanna buy the real thing you get it!!!..

Maybe thats an idea peerzy I dunno I'm sure if there was such a thing as protection it would surely have been thought of and stopped us pirates

I give the disc to them as its just easier than going round 20 houses each month and getting myself mixed up in fixing other peoples computer problems. I have no problem giving discs away but i prefer people not to copy them and give them away or sell them. The reason i have a problem with other people copying them and giving them away is i don't know what hands there getting into, and i certainly don't want it to fall into the wrong hands, be it a cop or be it a bootlegger who sells the cd's on. I give the stuff i get for free away for free to people i trust who will keep it free and will keep it to themselfs. Heck if someone wants a copy they come to me and ask me for it, i'll decide if i think i can trust them with the scene's work. Also alot of my applications i create customer boot menus and other nice little things that i put my time into ( i recently spent ages putting together an ultimate apps cd with menus for example) i have no problem someone enjoying this menu and warez for free, once someone sells the dvd for more than 50p or a cd for more than 50p then there making un-needed profit off of mine and mostly other scene work, thats never on.

Anyway i think this topics gone off the rails abit to much so if people could go back to helping me that would be great, otherwise i'll ask for someone to close this and i'll ask somewhere else.

Once you give something to someone, what they do with it is their choice and responsability. What you are saying is that you give something and there are strings attached. That's not giving. I'm willing to bet that when you give something to someone they give something back. Maybe not money but services, a meal, a few beers or maybe just their time etc. Otherwise you wouldn't do it.

Usually they give me a disc. That is all, money/beers/whatever else is kept on a different tab. If im in the pub i say you owe me that £5 from last night i don't say you owe me i gave you Windows.

I still think you're a hyprocrite for approaching your dilemma in the way that you've posted. And frankly, I feel you deserve the flames you've been receiving. I suspect you're bootlegging more to "show off" then for the sake of sharing and personal use.

Sadly, I don't believe you'll take my suggestion & criticism to heart and I expect some sort of lame response[as you've already demonstrated].

I agree that he is just trying to stop his moocher freinds from selling shit that they got free. I bet if they got caught, they wouldnt hesitate to point the finger. Me, i wouldnt give them shit anymore. Tell them to get broadband and figure it out themselves.

You couldn't be more wrong. If you are saying that you wouldn't give warez to people who would go on and sell it then you need to stop filesharing! As hundreds of people yo upload files to will go home and sell them, making profit off of your upload, the skills of cracked from release groups and many other sources.

Why would i bother to learn how to download, get into it so much, learn so much about the scene and how it works and get into the scene if it was just to go home and say: how cool i am, look guys i download i took 10 minutes out of my life to read a faq bow down to meand blow me. Please, don't fucking try to insult me, the reason i pirate is the same reason i should hope most people pirate here, getting the stuff free, iv got a copy of Windows Home (OEM and came with a store brought PC) BUt My Copr dvd with all the extra features is much better, im not gonna fork out £150 just so i can get a few extra things.

I think you should either shut your fucking mouth, or put your money where your mouth is and uninstall Bittorent, FlashFXP, Kazaa, Emule, IE could download warez so lets chuck that piece of shit as well, heck might as well get rid of that pirated Windows your more than likley running and the dodgy copy of your favourite anti virus and firewall, go on burn the discs.

Following your logic, you should put copy protection on files you share online. You wouldn't want someone to sell copies would you?
