If anything the political aspects are the smoke screen. That way he can use both politics and religion to justify (to his followers) these actions. Anyway if he doesn't speak for the majority of Muslims, then who the feck is he to make any sort of demands. What mandate does he have, other than being wealthy himself and being able to fund terrorism, towards his own religious ends.
