If BL wants the west out of the Middle East, he cannot just demand this... he'd have to demand more, just to arrive "In the middle" at what he actually wants.
Do you think this is some sort of bargaining deal. He is a fundamentalist who believes all infidels are scum and to be done away with. That's what jihad is and that's what he called for. If anything the political aspects are the smoke screen. That way he can use both politics and religion to justify (to his followers) these actions. That way it (the political claims) can also appeal to non-Muslims, including atheists and agnostics.

Anyway if he doesn't speak for the majority of Muslims, then who the feck is he to make any sort of demands. What mandate does he have, other than being wealthy himself and being able to fund terrorism, towards his own religious ends.

l can't agree with this, l think it's the other way around, that the religious bullshit is the means to the political end. BL isn't stupid, he isn't going to ask for the impossible. l believe he just uses religion to recruit the nutters who do his dirty work for him, not that l think he doesn't believe, just that he doesn't believe all he says he does.

This is also plausible, but which ever motive is true, it is also true that there are a multitude of different motivations and combination of motivations possible...

It seems to equal the same thing, threat after threat of terrorist attacks, followed by the occasional 'big one' to get us really scared.

Agreed and as Rio said, contrary to what the majority of Muslims want.

As such he is causing a lot of the current problems which Muslim chaps, going about their everyday business, are having to face.

So in all fairness he is terrorising them as well. Whilst claiming to support a Muslim Nation.

muslims aren't sheep. for everyone there is a different oppinion. some western ones care to think of their "brothers" in the east. some eastern ones care about the ones in the west. some are happy with bin ladens crusade, some aren't. some are but don't say it in public. some are happy to live anywhere with anyone as long as they have a fair chance at life. some want to take over the world. some want the west to leave the east. some couldn't care less

i think everyone should be honest and not suppress the fact they're pissed off at the west for bombing islamic countries. now we've had these bombings everyone is terrified to admit they believe in the cause, even if not the tactics used in support of it.

i don't wanna be sat here in 70 years, after china save the muslims saying "we knew it was going on but couldn't do anything. we had to get on with our lives" on some UKTV History program :tongueincheek?:

    Interesting point.

Why do people refer to "the west" in political terms and to "islmic countries" in religious terms.
