Anybody using Azureus?
I tried downloading from this page:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/azureus....0.jar?download
But Windows XP wasn’t able to open the application.
Any help in getting Azureus up and running would be greatly appreciated.
Currently I’m using suprnova but have heard good things about Azureus and want to give it a try.
Thanks

you know, all the relevant information is at the azureus homepage.
http://azureus.sf.net
Tip of the Day: Look at the "What you need..." section.

I’ve downloaded “Java web start” and have icon active on my desktop. Does “Java web start” include the necessary plug-in? If not where can I downloaded the needed file within the Azureus home page?
I’ve tried looking over the FAQ and other pertinent information found on the Azureus home page. Yet, I still find it very confusing.
I also have Azureus 2.0.8.4 download on the desktop and the icon says it’s an “executable jar file” but I can’t open it with javaw.
Any help getting Azureus up and running would be great as it seems that Bit Tornado/supernova (which I currently use) have become unreliable.
Thanks

If you follow the link to the JRE from the Azureus Homepage this will dl the current version of the java file you need. Install that.
Also dl the .exe file from the Azureus page (if you're on Windows that is) and then instal that.
You should now be up and running.
Java Web Start is a seperate java feature that allows you to load/instal web based java progs, and the .jar file from the web site is only really there if you're updating your version of Azureus or use Linux/OSX.
Hope you get it going, it's a great client

I followed the JRE link from the Azureus Homepage and downloaded the file for Window. However when I clicked to install the "Java Web Start" appeared again. Is this the correct file: j2re-1-2-04.
Also where is the ".exe file" on the Azureus page to download? I can't seem to find it.
Thanks

the jre file is the correct one.
The .exe file link is towards the bottom of the page called Azureus 2 next to the frog image (top link of two)

GREAT!!
Up and running!
My settings are:
max. number of connections: unlimited
default max upload per torrent: 6
Global max upload speed: unlimited
Are these the correct settings to ensure the fastest download speeds. (my router is correctly set and the green light shows)
