need help

just downloaded a file...and it is still a dat file

it should be an .avi file

what's up with this??

anyone with answers...

Rename the file blah blah blah.avi

Ok, changed the file name with the .exe, now the extension stills says "dat file". The download looks complete byte size but can't run the program.

Did the file also complete in kazaa?

If not, open excplorer ->tools->folder options->View->untick 'Hide extensions for known file types' and then try to change the extension. Hope that works B)

I just change the extension to what it should be. If it's .mp3, change .dat to .mp3, and if it's .avi, change .dat to .avi etc. Then get rid of all the numbers & label it (i.e. Brittany's First Spanking.avi). I wish lol. Peace. :lol:

jazzy, the reason the file did that is normally associated with starting the download in regular kazaa and completing it in Lite. It will complete but may not rename itself as it should due to the change in programs. If this is what happened just thought you should know it will eventually go away. If not please post a reply, I am interested in finding out why, not just how to fix it. This was discussed previously here on the forum back a few months now, I think.
