View Full Version : Turning Share On And Off
I have a 56K modem which makes downloading very slow. Sometimes I have to turn the Kazaa lite share off and then later want to turn it on again. However when I press to turn share on and off and even press apply and then ok it sometimes does not turn on or off. Can anything be done so that share always turns on or off when I want it to.

It takes a minute or two before your changes are applied, DSL or 56K.

Will it eventually change by itself after the share box is checked or unchecked.

You would be much better off leaving the share on, just adjusting your settings to 24 k upload max and 1 upload max. You may get better overall results as sharers do not booted out of peoples files, people (myself included) will boot people who try and download without sharing. Just an FYI.

Yup. As ShareDaddy just said. I will boot anyone not sharing at all.
I will send them a message first and then after a bit I will disconnect them.
When I get a list of someones files I don't start downloading from that list. I only use it to check if people are sharing.
Just a note: If you use 56k. I will not upload from you. I understand that you need all your bandwidth.
I just want to see that people are willing to share. If they are not even willing then ...boot.
People that are complaining about people not sharing are really contributing to a far more serious problem which is the fake files and virus files. If someone needs to have large files to share and share a lot that means that they might post files with fake names or even virus files. So someone spends a lot of time downloading a file only to find they got a different file they have no use for or a virus infected computer.
People downloading by modem sometimes have to turn off sharing just to get the file. If your downloading at 5kb and the file takes 2 days to download i.e. 2 days with no telephone and someone starts to upload that means that the file could take a week to download or the download could even trickle down to .07 and take a year. Also if a person has a modem they are not likely to be on line long enough for anyone to complete and upload of a software or DVD file leaving uploaders with wasted time and half completed files.
Sharing short music files can be fun as you know that the person likes your music, has the same music tastes as you and thus you have something in common with that person especially if its a little known artist you might even know some of the same people in this ever shrinking world
Many file sharers are people who benefit society equalizing the digital divide providing good software, music, and movies to those who could never afford to buy them and thus in no way harm the software, music, and movie industries.
But to these nerds who have no life, whose only life is before a computer, and are critical of people not sharing they should get a life before the frauds and virus spreaders take over file sharing.

Listen I don't share "Fake files" nor "virus files".

People who turn off sharing are "leeches". I had 56k and even 33k and I shared then and I continue to share now. I remember that I felt a responsability towards the network then as I do now. Share smaller (even .txt or .jpg) files but share something.

I agree with the above statement. This network is about sharing. So share then!

I am in agreement with everything Nobody1234 stated. When I was on dial up and p2p I shared files, in fact because I was on dial up they were all smaller size, mostly jpeg's and some music, had to have kind of stuff, dial-up leave it on all night to get one song, however I to felt the need to contribute and always shared, in fact on the old original version of Kazaa, prior to Sharman buying them out I have it all tweaked just right, I could share 2 files at a time at 24, people were happy as my files sizes were smaller and I was still able to get speeds (and this is a testament to how bad it has been lately on this network) approaching those of what I get now on unlimited Cable. And as far as sharing bad or corrupt files, never have and never will. I have a system where I have a single folder inside of my shared folder called Shared Stuff, this is where all completed downloads go after they have been verified. Inside of that folder are various folders to hold the various types of files, one for each of the following full HQ movies, ScreenCam’s, music (which has it's own sub-folders for decades), celebrity pictures, software, games, etc. Each and every file is verified prior to being placed in the top folder, and then placed where it should reside for the life of sharing it. I also spend time in the MY KAZAA section making sure all of the data is correct and not misleading or hyping somebody’s bad website. So if you care and want to be a part of file sharing, it can be done and be done well.

Why do you try such big files than. If you are on amodem be glad to get small files. If you want to download faster buy broadband.

You really know nothing, and start blaming. If you share, someone takes a little from you, a little from me (on 56k modem, yes!) and a lot from someone with dsl. He don't need the whole file from you.
But to these nerds who have no life, whose only life is before a computer, and are critical of people not sharing they should get a life before the frauds and virus spreaders take over file sharing.
You are talking if you are such a guy? Without those "NERDS" there was no filesharing. And you were sitting behind your computer not knowing what to do. Because you have nothing to download for free.
All you have to do if you want to download, is share. Is that to much asked? If everyone shares even you will get your files faster. So i have said it. My 1st post ever. Love reading all this learned a lot. Can't wait till i get DSL. I will be coming here much faster and more.
Love to you all (even you . (dot, not sharing one)

None whatsoever, Flinger is absolutely correct. Kicking leechers off is not contributing to anything other than faster downloads for sharers, if all leechers are booted off, this opens up slots and bandwidth for sharers. I used to have a long little message I would copy and paste into the IM prog and send to leechers, I was actually able to turn quite a few with it. If I still have it, when I get hime tonight I will find it and edit it into this message. It sums up why everyone needs to share and why it benefits us all. Have a good weekend everyone.
EDIT:
Attn: Non sharing Kazaa abuser! This is not meant to be rude, this is meant to inform you of the need for you to share your files/bandwidth as I share mine.
Either share something of value or stop downloading from me, Person to Person sharing only works when all parties share. If all parties were to share, all of our downloads would take minutes and hours instead of hours and days. I will continue to cancel you from downloading my files, if you continue not to share I will block your IP Address from my PC, share or be prepared. You do not have to share everything, you can pick and choose what to share and when, just share something of value.
Please do not use the "Sucking My Bandwidth" or “Slowing My Downloads” excuse, you can adjust your settings and share the appropriate files so that no matter what type of internet connection you have (Cable, DSL or Dial up), that you can share and share without impeding your own download speed. Not sharing is the loser’s way out and will not be tolerated by yours truly.
Also, please do not use the I am new to Kazaa excuse, if you truly were new to Kazaa you would at a minimum be sharing the Kazaa Media Desktop executable and should have other files to add to the share folder.
COME ON PEOPLE NOW, SMILE ON YOUR BROTHER, EVERYBODY GET TOGETHER… SHARE, SHARE, SHARE, RIGHT NOW! And always…

I am interested in seeing that "long little message" you speak of.
I also have a few pre typed little messages. :)

Thanks ShareDaddy,
I got my first PM from you. :D I like your 'edit'. Great info. Maybe a bit too long for chat window but I will use some of this info.
(It took me a little while to understand your PM. but I see now that it was about the "edit".)

I've also had a little luck with turning leechers over to our side with a little message of encouragement. WE all should be sharing. Lower your bandwidth if you have to and keep smaller files in your folder if that's all you have the space for, but you have to share. I give people two chances if I catch them leeching from me, after that their ip address and computer signature are permanently banned from connecting with mine. I believe that I'm being fair with that.
