View Full Version : Sp1 When I Already Have Xp Pro

Hey there! This is the first time I have posted a topic. I am a little confused about how I add SP1 to XP when I have a burnt copy of XP. There is a lot of stuff out there on how to do this, and I am lost. I am computer literate, but not to the point where I could code something.
Yah, so I already have XP pro on the computer, now I have to download the service pack and try to put it in. I am told that my burnt copy will not let me install it. So how to I get around this? I have tried on K Lite but I get programs that either don't work or confuse the hell out of me...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks....

The only way I know of is to now try and get a burnt (as you call it) copy of XP PRO with the service pack already installed. I did not have this problem as mine was a registered verison that cam e with my new PC, however I did have to download a different version of Office Xp to get the 2nd service pack.

change your keycode to a valid corporate xp cdkey - no need to reinstall XP (this is the method i used, and worked perfectly).
How to change the Windows XP Product Activation Key Code (http://www.labmice.net/WindowsXP/articles/changeID.htm)
Windows XP Key Viewer! (download) (http://www.digitalnowhere.com/filelib/winxp/seecdkey.exe)
Windows XP Key Changer! (download)! (http://www.digitalnowhere.com/filelib/winxp/xp_cd_key_changer.zip)
i have pages upon pages of valid xp cdkeys... try this one for starters.. AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR ORIGINAL CDKEY (just in case)

...oh, and dont forget this:
XP Key Recoverer and Discoverer (valid cdkey keygen - really works, i've tested it) (ftp://www.eit.org.uk/pub/bscn/incoming/48062-all_xp_suite_keygen.zip)
you're welcome :D

So, does anyone have something for Office XP as well, or am I stuck having to download a new entire Office each time a service pack comes out? This is why I posted my original reply, did not know someone had this type of hack. Would appreciate anything for Office XP, thanks in advance.

sharedaddy, i dont know much about the office keys, so i just downloaded the office with intergrated sp2. after i installed that, all updates worked successfully.
if you have a fast connection, it really shouldnt be too much trouble to download a new version every now and then if sp3 (it it ever comes into existance) wont install. :P

Sweet replies. :D I will have to wait to see if the tricks you mentioned work. I am a poor 56Ker who has to wait 11 hours for the service pack. (It sucks to live out in the middle of nowhere where you only have dail up available  )
Thank you for your help.

Most PC mags have a copy of SP1 on their cover disks atm if you hate to spend hours downloading it. This is especially good if you find out you are using one of the 5 or so "blocked" keys that will not let windows update.

I'm terribly sorry, pretty new at this stuff, but what is a "cover disk ATM"?
Thanks for all your help....

I used the product key changer successfully and changed the product key. I verified it according to the description in the article about it, but when I go to install the sp1 I still get an error message that my key is not valid.
