Participation Hack

Sorry about cross posting...Got a little ahead of myself.

>:( Personally I hate the Participation Level feature. There are many reasons why I feel this way. But that's another story. So here is my way around it.

This hack is for v2.0 I say this because it is the only version that contains this feature (At least for now).

Navigate your way to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Kazaa with RegEdit and click File. Next Export and save the file as Supreme.reg or whatever you want to call it to your desktop. Just be sure to save it as a reg file. (NOTE: Before you export the reg file, you must be at the 1000 level.). Now every time you double click the new REG file on your desktop, it will reset you to 1000. (NOTE: You must close KaZaa First). For those that no how. You can clean up the new reg file and leave only the pertinent information. It will work either way.

I have been using the same trick for quite a while now.

But your trick will only work on Windows 2000/XP.
For Windows 9x you will need two additional registry keys.

i use the registry participation cheat, and yes, i get 1000 no problem. But, it drops sickeningly fast. Within 3 minutes, i'm already down to 285!

Umm, try using a 56K modem. That way the participation level will decrese slower. ;D

Don't stop the cheater as soon as it gets to 1000, instead go and get a cup of coffee or something.

I am pretty sure that although the displayed limit is 1000, the internal limit is MUCH higher.

Once my level starts dropping, it drops pretty quick even with 56k d/u, but it can be a long time before it starts to move after doing what I've just suggested.

Mine seems to stay at 1000 for several hours.
Left it running overnight (well about 7 hours) and it had just dropped down to about 800 when I looked, but I've noticed it can easily drop 200 in 1 hour, so it seems to stay at 1000 for about 6 hours.

Mind you, there's usually a lot of uploading going on at the same time.

I devealop this tool KaZaA Lite Cheater, it alows u to set up the speed of the program so u can keep runnig it without get low of resources.

Can you make a program that does the following:

Button 1:

Backups the LastSearchHash registry key.

Button 2:

Closes Kazaa, restores the LastSearchHash entry, restarts Kazaa, minimalizes Kazaa, closes the prog.

Button 3:

Minimalizes the prog to systray and every X hours it does:
Closes Kazaa, restores the LastSearchHash entry, restarts Kazaa, minimalizes Kazaa.

Ok i going to try i will post it when done, posibly on monday because i have a lot of work this weekend

I Finish a new version of KaZaA Lite Cheater with better features ;)

First it now allow you to setup an auto stop when your level gets to 1000,
an auto cheater is also available when your level drops below a specified number.

Is not what u ask but i think that this is even better, closing and reopening apps is dumb style ;D

This participation hack, along with the zone hop trick, are a great 1-2 punch on KaZaA 2.0.

I would still like it if you could implement the features I suggested.

For two reasons:
- It uses a whole lot less system resources (mostly less harddisk activity).
- Restarting Kazaa every once in a while frees up lots of system resources. Specially on Windows 9x. If you let Kazaa run to long on such a system it will use up all resources until your downloads just stop.

I get the message "Can't find Kazaa Lite service" what do I do wrong?
