I have constant growing collection of music and was wondering what everyone used to organize there music. Right now I just organize it into folders in xp. I edit the songs manually and its getting annoying now. So give me back some info. Thanks

MP3Tag Studio worked great!!!! Thanks everybody. Now all I need to do is find a program to organize my movies. I wonder if mp3tag studio does movies too. Ill have to check it out. Anyway Thanks everyone and any suggestions on a movie organized is also appreciated. I think if everyone used programs like this we wouldnt have to reorganize as much after we downloaded. :)

You know there was a great program called Movie collectorz (http://www.collectorz.com/movie/) or something like that and it was great. It had a extensive database and worked great. But of course it had a trial limit. Bummed me out.

I also use Excel to manage my movie collection, however at 15 pages and growing it is rather cumbersome and can lead to innaccurate data (things being either left off or included incorrectly). But it does work, the movie program you mentioned was even more work, I suggest we all keep looking, there is probably something really great out there, we just have not come across it yet.

Just read this topic about a video collection manager (http://www.kazaalite.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=6634&st=0&#entry38793) downloading it now. Maybe it's a sweet thing. B)

Bald Guy, may I suggest your own good sense? However you want to organize your own music, it is your music. I have friends that have and are driving themselves crazy trying to organize their music by group, theme, album, mood and date of recording and I wonder why?

Organize it however the hell you like. I use the simplest smallest player on the planet, the STP and just stick things into folders by artist in broad categories and if I want to listen to something long I just make a playlist.

The great thing about Mp3s on the HD is that it is the ultimate jukebox...it can be whatever you want! (not that that is always easy to decide)

PS I don't even use tags...just the filenames, which, according to my understood convention shoud be Artist - Song in correct English and not all caps or lower case, unless that is the preference of the artist...classical music, showtunes and soundtracks may add another section to this filename, i.e. Beethoven - Symphony #1 - Mvmnt 01.mp3 or may substitute the overall work and omit the artist altogether, i.e. West Side Story - Maria.mp3. Or may be organized to facilitate sequential play, as is often necessary in classical music, i.e. Beethoven - Fifth Symphony - 01 etc.

For example, bEEthOVEN's Fifth, FIRST OnE.mp3 would be rude and unacceptable even though the file may be perfectly good because I would have to edit it.

But it's your choice.

Sorry Bald Guy. I can't help you. My hard drive is a QUAGMIRE. Anytime my hard drive gets full of too much music, I just click and burn until a few disks are full. Then I toss them onto the shelf. I don't even know what I have.

I guess I am too damn lazy to organize those files. I feel as long as I saved them somewhere. I will always have them. A stress free style to store your music.

I am sure if you have any important music files, you would have the itch to burn just those for your own listening pleasure, already. If you downloaded it and haven't done anything to it for a while. Then delete it. you can always get it again at another time.

Is this what you do, Bald Guy?

I dont delete any music actually. I have plenty of room on my hardrive. The thing is I like to make different cd's. So when I go to make a complilation I want a organized list. But like Deckard said do what ever you want. I am trying those programs metioned previously tonight and going to see how they work. I am also organizing my movies with one of those programs too. So I will get to work and stop typing and talk later. Thanks for the replys.

Ok for anyone that cares I checked out the program movie collector 2.2 last night. It was fabulous. I was able to organize a huge stack of movies within minutes. It put all the data in the fields for me. It also put a picture of the movie cover in a field. You are able to sort your movies many different ways and I am sure that you would find one that suited you. Also you are able to export the movie list to html and or text. Here is a example of html.
Movie list html style (http://www.msnusers.com/BaldGuysWorld/Documents/export%2Ehtm)

Like I said in previous post you are only able to put 50 movies in a collection but you are able to make unlimited collections. Unless you buy. Then its wide open. But I am sure to figure out how to do more. Anyway please try it if you are interested in organizing your movies.

Also I checked out the other program metioned earlier I think it was called movie organizer or something but it had all kind of bugs. For me anyway and I uninstalled it. Just a heads up.
