Winamp Won't Play Wma Files

I recently put XP on my comp, and installed winamp. I put some of my backed up music back on and winamp would not play any of the tracks i had taken from CD myself.
Why does this happen? Is it some copywright thing in XP that wasn't on ME?
Any help would be very useful. :)
