probably beacause there's no space on the board server.
or that they want to keep the space they have!

Exactly, I think this was covered somewhere a while back. And this way there are no actual copyright infringement issues with this site, there is nothing actually posted here, it is all just linked. Makes a lot of sense to me.

its probbaly a combo of copyright and the fact they dont have enough space to host all of your files for you.

I understand, but why can't we directly d/l from our HD?
(just being curious)

I actually asked this same question and ugluk and the rest are right. Even if we downloaded from our HDD, the image would still need to be stored on the server and space is an issue. That's basically what Paul told me a while back.

now i know thanx ;)
@TRAVELBUG, Bender etc.
Do you know what "Traffic" means ?
At the moment ~ 1200 MB daily .. now what happen if everybody is allowed to upload Pictures on the server ?
The space itself is no problem .. some gigs free i think.

As a matter of interest, how long are old posts kept, are they archived at all, etc?
Also the first post ever made on this forum is still availlable :). The boardsoftware just shows the last 30 days direct reachable. But if you use the search function every in the database available post gets included to the search ( bad english i think but i hope you understand what i mean ). The database isn't very big .. atm ~ 32 MB.

I didn't realize, I thought dl a pic from a URL or HD was the same for a server.
I was only being curious. :)
The pictures you upload will be saved on the server of the forum .. for example a 100 KB jpg file. Now another User opens that thread he has to download the 100 KB from the kazaalite.ath.cx server. => 105 KB Traffic for each user who visitis that thread ( 100KB jpeg + 5KB html code ). If the picture is now on an external storage (tripod etc. ) in the html code of the thread-website just is the introduction where to download what file. So the jpeg will get loaded from the external storage. => just the 5KB html code has to be downloaded from the kazaalite.ath.cx server.
Hope it's clear now.
Clear as mud to me VB :lol: but thanx anyway
