i play films on my DVD player on the tv.If you go to www.vcdhelp.com there is a step by step guide to converting anything to s/vcd.
RipperRoo
07-18-2002, 10:19 PM
windows media player for movie files , winamp for audio .
btw , why bother converting to vcd , just get either a graphics card with a tv out , or a 21" monitor , then you wont need to waste cd's on vcd format

i lend the vcds to my mates who are not fortunate enough to have cable modem or a computer .i do have a card with tv out but its easier to have the discs to hand so the missus who has no idea about computers can watch them.HEHE ;D

Mainly WMP. However certain files only played on Vidomi Player which was not listed. If it works on WMP I use that, otherwise I use what works. (DivX, Vidomi and sometimes ATI)

I voted juggle also....
Sometimes one avi player will play a video upside down and the next one will play it right side up, so it is good to juggle.
Winamp 2.78 and 3.0 are working the best right now but RealOne Player sometimes works better on 3% of my files. I have the TFM audio filter running, so if a file works on none of the players then I start using that to get it to sound right. When I get quicktime movie previews online, then Quicktime player 6 pops up and works fine.
Windows Media Player seems to try to hijack my file preferences and I can't tolerate that for long. RealOne Player used to hijack all the time, but I seemed to have fixed that annoyance a few months ago. Sometimes forbidding a player to update ever is the only way to keep file preferences intact. Ugggg....
I used Divx player 1.0 for awhile on the Win2kPro system and it worked great, but then the hijacking happened and it stopped working. So I then got the XP system and I haven't had the need to use any player besides Winamp and the above. I also installed the Nimo Codec Pack awhile back and that might have worked well for my setup but a friend of mine could not get that pack to work well on their system. *shrug It's very dificult to isolate software issues if there is no error message. But it's fun to juggle as it teaches me what is going on inside the computer. *smile

iTunes is the most bloated piece of software ever. I only use it for my iPod. I'm aware that there are other software that supports syncing to it, but I just don't really trust them.
Ha, you're quite right, Lysine.

02-04-2007, 11:13 PM
Zoom player(general purpose), VLC(weird codecs), MediaPlayerClassic with RealAlt + QuickAlt. Plays everything :-D... The only thing annoying about VLC is that you can't precisely use the scrollbar to jump to time points with the default interface... But if you switch to a skinned interface... time scroll is smooth like most media players :-D

Windows media plyer of course!
but somethime when i want to watch something with subtitels i use MWV2 player :D
i use foobar/windows media combo. foobar for music, winmedia for movies.
I used to use VLC, but when I played my .flac files on my stereo. it always crashed when the bitrate went over 1mb/s.
Also there is more feedback on VLC.
and it just has an awkward GUI compared to foobar...
http://www.plusfourdb.com/images/hth/foobar2.gif
http://download.videolan.org/images/screenshots/vlc-win32.png
notice how on foobar it shows the bps at the bottom on the GUI and how foobar's playlist is part of the main GUI. with vlc you need to open up another window not shown in that picture.
