I want to share some Animal Crossing music on Kazaa, but I can't get my GameCube disc read... So I can't rip any files from it...

Well GameCube discs aren't made for reading on PCs (mainly for protection for privacy and etc.) so you may not be able to rip files from the disc. i don't have a GameCube, nor do I have a disc but maybe GC discs are totally incompatible with PC CD/DVD drives. Or maybe you can get a special program to read them, should be more information about this around the internet, try a search on google.

I think that GC disks are like tiny DVD's, but as secfan said, they may be totally incompatible. Also, you could say what your PC says when you insert the disk, or what happens when you go to My Computer.
Or you could do something with the outputs from the GC when the music is playing.

As the previous posts say........don't think it can be done.
They are mini DVD's ....i've got a gamecube and tried a disc in my DVD drive and it just spends ages trying to read the disc and nothing happens.
A similar thing was done with the Dreamcast....sega used GD Roms: they can't be read in a PC.
The only way people did manage to rip files from them or to copy them was to get some kind of specialist lead and connect the dreamcast to your PC and wait anywhere up to 24 hours for your PC to read the disc!
You could do as suggested though........if you get a lead, similar to a scart lead ,but one which has 3 phono sockets on one end: audio left and right and video......maybe you could hook the audio sockets up to a device and record it.

have you not noticed something funny about your game cube discs apart from the fact they are really small dvd's.
no. :o
they spin backwards. yep nintendo decided any encryption is too easy to break so the disc has the track on it made backwards. i don't think anyone has come up with a way to get around this.
you could probably get the data turn it backwards then burn it. but who sells mini dvd's :(
well im no expert in this but my mate says that you can get your gamecube chipped (not very good chip apparently) then all you do is rip the game onto dvd or cdr (not sure which one) and put it in the machine just dont close it and it will play.
ill ask him how you rip the discs the next time i see him but it sounds as if its possible.
also he should know what he is talking about he has his own website its still work in progress though so doesnt look much at the minute.
its chipping xbox and ps2 at the moment hasnt got around to the gamecube section yet

does anyone know where to get mini dvd's from??
and how much. just wondering if a chip for your game cube would be worth making or not
I cannot find a mod chip for the gamecube and google has never let me down yet.
did you not read my post you dont need to copy them onto mini dvd/cdr. i dont know how to do it but i am going to find out for you`s

am i wrong in thinking that you are saying you can copy the games onto normal cd's and dvd's.
how??
the discs will not fit into your game cube
and the laser will only read the first few cm of the track.
so how is this possible.

I think that the info from stoi is about the playstation 1.

I think he is talking about the gamecube. but the info seems more like the psx.
anyway if you want to record the sound of your game just use a 3 1/2 inch jack out of the headphone socket on your telly and plug it into your soundcard. these are easy to pick up.
I have a gold plated one for recording to my mini disc which cost £6.99 but a cheap one is only a few quid.
nope im talking about the gamecube, but if there was no way of ripping the games what would be the point of making a chip for it. and my mate has already chipped some gamecubes. I still havnt seen him yet but when i do ill post all the info on here for you.
like i said i dont understand it either but i know its possible to chip/rip games on the gamecube

No you cannot copy these games as the GameCube discs are physically smaller and store less data.
PlayStation 2 discs store about 3 times as much data as GameCube discs, and Xbox discs store about 5.5 times as much data as GameCube discs.
Xbox and PlayStation 2 discs have equal physical diameter.
Disc Capacities
GameCube 1.5 GB
PlayStation 2 4.7 GB
Xbox 8.5 GB
Dreamcast 1.0 GB

i guess copying xbox games is out of the question as well since i have never seen dvd r's that are dual layerd or even a writer that can do this.
the only way i could think to copy gamecube games would be to use a dvdr and them trim it down with a file.
not pretty but may work. not sure what it would do to the toc. <_<
still the tracks on the disc would be facing the wrong way :(
Hi ppl, i am posting this to apologize to 4play and anyone else ive had a go at on this topic.
i havnt got a gamecube so couldnt verify if a normal disc would fit in the tray, so i phoned my other friend who tried for me and he confirmed that it will not fit a normal disc in the tray.
I aplologise for sounding off a bit as i thought i could trust my so called friend but he was just taking the p**s
as you can see ive taking the link to his website of my previous post, he can do his own dirty work to get ppl to see his site.
again i apologise to everyone and i feel like a right idiot.
hi ppl ive just found this on the net, its in dutch and i cant speak it so it might be a load of rubbish but check the link here gamecube page (http://gamecube.insidegamer.nl/ShowContent.asp?ContentID=11383).
also if you can read dutch can you translate and post it on here please cheers.
also someone gave me this, doesnt make much sense to me but it might to some ppl out there.
The italian based Enigma-Team, also known from their Titanchips (not to be messed with the Enigmah-Team which developed the Xbox- Enigmah Chips back in the days) is working on a modification for the Gamecube to backup the games. They are using a pretty easy trick by simply sniffing the IDE-Port of the gamecube and transporting the read data to PC by Network. Since the communication between Drive a
Since the communication between Drive and Mainboard is very fast their next plan is to install a USB2.0 port to the Gamecube in order to increase the data transfer speed to PC drastically. Reading of the games is already solved with good results but the guys haven't managed yet to boot a backup on the Gamecube. We are awaiting first positive results in January.
not sure how true it is but ill keep you posted.

no problem mate. i had my doubts about your friends chips since i could find nothing on google.
still we all learnt af few things.
i do not own a gamecube so i had to ask my mate on msn about whether the discs would fit or not. and i knew the discs spun backward coz i got really drunk and watched one for about half an hour. :D
ok i dont know how true this is as it come from the same so called mate and i cant find anything on the net about it but he reckons that to use the chip and normal cd/dvd`s you have to take the whole of the case apart so normal discs can fit. i know im sceptical about this 1 whether it wall work or not and 2 is it safe/ok to do this with the gamecube if you done this you wold be playing with just the innards of it.
life i said im sceptical so dont get at me if this info is bullshit.
