View Full Version : 007 Nightfire Won't Run
I got the 2 CD's for the James Bond 007: Nightfire game. The game installs fine, I copy the crack over from CD1 and go to start the game but it just hangs at a black screen. I Alt+Tab out and there is an error that says:
---------------------------
ERROR
---------------------------
Out of memory Failing request of [1708497600] bytes
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
My system meets the requirements,
Athlon 1.4 GHz
20GB HD
256 MB RAM
GeForce 2 GTS 32MB
SB Live! Platinum 5.1
and i have the latest 40.72 NVIDIA drivers installed.
Can anyone help me?

I got the same problem.
I used Daemon tools to run the game before burning.
It installed no probs, i added the crack and got the black screen after starting the game.
I done a bit of uninstalling and reinstalling and it worked, so i uninstalled and burnt the filed to cd and reinstalled and i get the black screen again with the following error:
'out of memory Failing reguest of [129804576] bytes'
I have two partitions on my PC.....WINXP Home on one and WIN98 on the other and the same thing happens on both.
I know it works because i had it working, so it can't be my graphics card, and i'm doing alright in the memory department, but the error message does seem to suggest it's a memory problem.
I'll post back if i have any luck.

rygy,
I found a solution.....as strange as it seems it works!
Do you have another cd drive or a cdrw on your PC?
If so, uninstall the previous installation and reinstall from your other drive.
I read some info in EA's UK support site that in some circumstances, you have to install the game from the cd drive on your PC with the lowest letter....my dvd drive is drive D, and my CDRW is drive E.
This expains why i got it working with Daemon tools virtual drive..... i set up two virtual drives and installed from the second drive and it worked.....the second time i installed from the first and it didn't work....i didn't realise this was a problem until now.
I've installed from my E drive on both my XP partition and my WIN98 partition and it's worked both times so it can't be a fluke.
Hope it works for you.
thanks guy! I'll give it a try. It sounds about right too, EA has always had problems with people and 2 optical drives. you are awesome
I have my burner on E and DVD on D, my first attempts at installing it were on the E drive when I would continuously get the "Out of memory" error. I just tried installing it from my D drive and I got the same damn error. I have no idea and I'm about to give up.
I am also now wondering if it could be that I have Direct X 9. Should I switch to DX8.1?

Ummm...I have Direct X8.1....havn't bothered with 9 yet....not sure whether it would be the cause though.
Have you tried using something like Daemon tools to set up a virtual drive and install from there?
If you're not firmiliar with it, all you need to do is set up a virtual cd drive and load the image of the first CD to the drive and install from there.
When you get asked for the second CD ,unload the first, load the second, load the first again when it asks for it.
I'm not saying this will work, but i suppose it's worth a go.
Get Daemon Tools here: http://www.daemon-tools.org/main.htm
Good Luck.

Guys which 007 nightfire did you download? I got everyone in the book. But when I try to use Winiso to open it won't (just to see if the thing will install) The ones I downloaded were James Bond_007_Nightfire.CD1.Deviance.Sharereactor.bin. And the second CD also. There is no cue file and the size of the files are both over 700 mb. Now I also downloaded the other ones that are .exe but nero burning won't recognize them because the properties of the files are that it is an application. Which ones did you guys download, and did you download cue files with them? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the exact same problem as everyone else, when installing via Daemon tools, and also by burning to CD first (Also, tried on a comp. with only a burner, i.e. only one opti. drive, and got the same results.) Maybe just a bad rip?
