View Full Version : Outlook Xp
I'm trying to view an attachment in my email but it won't let me. I looked in the help it says you can't download attachments that can possibly contain virus. Is there a way to turn off this option?

Go to tools- options- security and untick the box that says "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus".
Make sure you got a virus protection as there are a lot being sent check my lists I posted in the "Lounge Section"

Thats for Outlook Express, not Outlook (two different programs)
Check here (http://www.slovaktech.com/attachmentoptions.htm) for a little add-in (called Attachment Security & Options) that will allow you to change what fle types can be permitted to be viewed as attachments

Yeah, I know and it is a bit confusing, dunno why Microsoft made the names so similar when the programs are sooo different..
To his credit though, he did put Outlook XP in the topic title and to me, that can only mean MS Outlook XP :_
Thanks for your help, sorry I should have been more specific about which program I am using.
So it doesnt let you download attachments at all, that sucks. Dont you just love it when M$ does things for your own good.

Oh yeah, I always love it when anybody does stuff like that, not just M$.. hehe ;)
You think they'd build the functionality to change which attachments could be downloaded and which can't into the program, but M$ won't for some reasone.....Even the next office, so far just called Office 11 doesn't have that option built in..
