Hopefully one that will make me better at chess. The only one of heard of is the Chessmaster series.

I believe that a Chessmaster 8000 rip is available for download. DO a search for it.

gnu chess (http://www.gnu.org/software/chess/) is small free and bloody hard to beat give that a try.
