i just installed dx9 and everything tests fine except when i click to "Test Direct3D", my computer restarts!
got latest drivers for my kyro2 gfx card, and DX8 worked perfectly, i dunno wot else to do.

Do you have winME/2K/XP? In that case the directX installation should have created a system-restore point. The I would suggest restoring your windows to before DX9 and get some advice. The guys at the PCpitstop Forums (http://support.pcpitstop.com/phpbb2/index.php) can talk you through pretty much any problem you may have...If you have a different OS, like win98, then you probably need to reinstall!
There are some bugs in DirectX 9. It is better to use 8.1
There aren't any games yet that use DX 9 anyway.

Win 2K doesn't have the system restore feature, that's just in WinME and XP..
Although you can get something like GoBack to do the same thing, but it's not built into Win2k though..

No assumption whatsoever. there will be almost no choice. Eventually they will have to switch. OpenGL is not nearly as big as dx and will never be. One way or another, we will all switch.
