I know that the two most popular Virus software out there are Norton Antivirus and McAfee Antivirus.
But, the Virus software packaged with my computer was called Trend Micro PC-Cillin2000. I'm guessing it's a more genericbrand Virus software but what I want to know is whether you think it is considerably inferior to Norton Antivirus and McAfee Antivirus or if it is fine so long as the program updates are downloaded routinely?
Well Pc-Cillin is pretty good too.
Only thing is that yours is a bit old.
It is better to get a new one. You can find the newest Norton in the verifieds.
There is also a topic somewhere on the forum about PC-Cillin 2003.

ummm, when I started that topic, it was in no way intended to slam NAV. It was to point out that AV's are only as good as their definitions, which NAV din't have one for this, Another Anti-virus did. That doesn't mean it will always be that way, could happen the other way around too, just as I first started using AVG, and when I first installed Nortons, it detected something AVG had not. It might not be unwise to use more than one anti-virus, or to atleast run house call periodically just to be sure. What I have done is to continue to use NAV(it starts at boot-up) and Ontrack which does not start up, but I can activate a system scan when I want to. Keeps from any conflict of two running at the same time(and saves system resources)
I always get my definitions here:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/...ges/US-N95.html (http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html)
Those are updated more often as Live-Update.
Plus I use The Bat! instead of Outlook Express.
Makes me immume to almost every current widespread virus.

Me either, have Norton as well. I guess I wasn't clear in why I posted your link. I thought you provided a point to keep updated, so I was just reiterating that.

Don't you mean "two most popular ANTI-Virus software programs"?
I wouldn't know what the most popular Virus software is, but I think many viruses still require visual basic's plugins to run...

My point was to not trust any anti-virus fully, use a combination. My definitions were up to date, there just weren't any definitions for what I had. Hopefully that will change, still waiting to hear from Symantec....
