View Full Version : Flight Simulator
I downloaded the file 'Flight Simulator 2002 Pro CD1.iso.exe' (602,846Kb) with no problem. Burned it to a CD with no problem also. But shortly into the install, I get this message 'Setup failed to extract files from D:10Voices.cab. This is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or a corrupted file'. So I downloaded the file again with the same results. I have 5.32 GB of free space left on my hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

The "10voices.cab" file should be 128,841 Kb, it might be worth checking the size on your FS2002 CD1.
Or if you like, you could try this version of the ISO
**sorry no hash files till board software is convered**
Still no luck. I've checked the size of the '10voices.cab' file and it is the right size. I have 512MB ram, so I can't be low on memory. And I have over 5GB of hard drive unused, so I can't be low on disc space. What about this swapping file thing? Is there something I can do with this?

Sounds more likely to be a corrupt file as it is doing it at the same point each time. If it was a swapfile problem, it would happen at different times during the install.
I know it's a pain but try downloading the other version that I posted, I know that works 'cos I installed it with no probs. If you still get the same error, (I doubt you will, unless your burner's up the wall!) it's something to do with your memory management in Windoze.
But I wouldn't start messing with that until you've tried the other file.
If you get really stuck, e-mail me. I've got an FTP server.

Hi, had same prob, BUT
right click the file, and use EXTRACT TO XXX/ or whatever
burn all thats in that folder on a cd and works like a charm, ALSO
I bought fs2k2 pro in germany, the translation sucked, SO if you want to change languages only get cd 1
Acecool, do you mean to extract the 10voices.cab file or the whole FS file that I downloaded?
Kind of new at this so be patient with me.
Thanks
I've been trying for a week now, and still am having problems with Flight Simulator. I've downloaded it 4 times now, and am currently downloading for the 5th time. (Microsoft.Flight.Simulator.2002.Pro.Final.Deviance.CD1.iso.exe). Each time I try to install I get the message that setup failed to extract the files from '10voices.cab'. It says it's likely to low memory or low disc space and I know I have plenty of both, (the memory on my computer I mean!!) I think it might be in the way I burn it to a CD maybe? I first get rid of the '.exe' extension and then double click it to open CD Creator which opens up a screen asking all the options of 'Track-at-once, Disc-at-once, finalize', etc. Is there something I am doing wrong at this point? I won't quit untill I get this right. That's the fun of all this anyway.
Thanks for any help.

I d/l the game - about 600MB - twice, and always the same problem:
the file is Microsoft Flight Simulator Pro2002 cd1.ISO.EXE
I remove the exe to this :
Microsoft Flight Simulator Pro2002 cd1.ISO
I burn the iso with NERO without problem.
I insert the burned disk and I get automatically the INSTALL screen.
I go trough the installation steps and then I get an error message:
"3Voice.cab is corrupted or you have a low memory problem" or something like that.
With the second d/l I get this same error but now it refers to FS2002.cab
I have a powerfull Pentium 4 1.7, WinXp and all the goodies.
So I do not believe it is a hardware problem.
May be it is a Microsoft protection related issue ?
Please any help, hint, crck, whatever

I have the same problem as well. I`d try to scan the files with cdmage, but for some reason the "action" to scan these files for corruption isn`t there.. Can you only scan (and fix) bin files? I`d really like to play this game, if anyone have an idea how to fix it.

I have the same problem as well with those files. Please post it if anyone finds a solution to this.
And no I`m not gonna buy some overprized Micro$oft game.

i've had the same problems installing fs2002, and have maybe pieced enough together to find an answer, though i've yet to try it
i think maybe if you use WinRAR to extract the .iso file you downloaded then burn the results on to CD, the installation runs normally.
But dont quote me!

G'day folks ... im in the same boat ... err .. plane, with errors on Cd1, so i'd thought i'd make a post and see if we can get this sorted so our dld's won't go to waste ...
ok ... ive got the deviance cd1 ISO.
In my copy 3VOICES.CAB is corrupt, but 10VOICES.CAB isn't,
but thats an easy one to get around.
Do a custom install .. in the ATC section, select the one that isn't corrupt.
You can double check these files ... extract the ISO using ISOBUSTER or similar,
then extract the .CAB files with WinACE or similar
so i got past that one ... big deal, my hiccup happens a bit further on, and it turns out my AIRCRAFT.CAB is corrupt as well :( ... at this point the setup spits ...
so then, ive extracted the CAB'S manually, re-built the directory, and with a little meddling in SCENERY.CFG have been able to get the game up & running, until it gets to the aicraft and spits cos' the default C172 plane is missing (just happend to be 1 of 5 corrupted aircraft  )
anyway, enuf babble ... spose what im trying to find out, is if everyone's AIRCRAFT.CAB is corrupt, as without the C172 we're not going to get anywhere.
So any info on this file would be most helpful, or if anyone with a good copy could zip up the C172 Folder for sharing, it would be extremely helpful
cheerz2all
ps. i have notice a few ppl sharing the CAB files ... but knowing my luck they're corrupt too
