Zone Alarm Settings In F.a.q.

I have ZoneAlarm pro v3.5.169.002 and set it up as per the f.a.q. (allow all incoming/outgoing traffic on port 1214 in custom internet zone security).

Since then I have been experiencing extreme internet paranoia and have beenwatching port sbcans and running trojan detectors and... well basically staying up late.

I got rid of the above settings and, under program control/programs/kazaa lite/options, allowed kazaa lite ONLY to access all ports except webservers (80, 8080, 8000). It works just fine (uploads/downloads and searches).

So, my query is. Does anyone know why I should open my firewall to ALL traffic on 1214 when I can get by only allowing the the kazaa lite program access ?

If it works for you - go for it. I tried it too and it works fine.
But if i understand the FAQ correctly, those are suggested settings in case you are having problems setting up KaZaA with a firewall. Also, as stated, ZA is a rule based firewall and they give these suggestions in case of difficulties.

Thats how i read it anyway B)

i use also English version (even i m french !) of 12/01/03 with zome alarm. i ve no special problem with , just see that port 1214 is open...
