I had problems with a 2 files.
I ran 2 codec finders:
GSpot and TFO


file 1 - would not play at all (no sound, no video)
GSpot:
Video - FFmpeg 1263 decode (not installed)
Audio - no audio channels

TFO:
Video - codec not in list. codec not installed.
Audio - msadp32.acm. installed. -(if the sound is installed, why wont it play sound?)



file 2 - plays fine in beggining, but cuts off with error after a few seconds.(cannot rev/ff/pause)

GSpot:
Video - n/a
Audio - n/a

TFO:
does not open (.WMV file)


the second file is a WINDOWSMWEDIA AUDIO/VIDEO file.
Sometimes, Windows MediaPlayer needs to access the internet for codecs, but i stopped alowing it with ZAP.
should i let it search the internet for codecs that it needs?
(is it safe?)




Another file:
the sound plays fine, but no video.
gspot says: divx 5.0 not installed.
y didnt that com woth the nimo?

If the video needs a ffmpeg codec it is right here http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg/ downloadable. But it seems to be for Linux. This codes also seems to be able to take care for the audio itselfs. But I don't know if it works on Windows.
I use this http://download.com.com/3000-2194-10134051.html player to play movies. Is a small simple player. Try it yourself.

File 2

I think the movie has damaged frames in the first part. I had the same problem. The player can't view the rest after the damaged part. Try to play it with the player above. You never knows. If it still doesn't work, trough it away and redownload.
It is save to let Windows Media Player to search for codecs but like always it can't find one. You must search and download it manually on www.google.com

File 3

Nimo has included DIVX 5.02 but not DIVX 5.0, but perhaps that makes no difference. Personally I don't download al those packs with codecs. It is meshing up your computer system. I always download a single codec when a video file needs one. Perhaps it is for a player more easy to find the codec on your computer.
But anyway, perhaps the player can't find the codec but perhaps the player above can.

I hope with the information above you can get at least 1 of the 3 files work. ;)

Don't know if this will help, but last night I tried playing a movie.
I only had sound, no visual.
TFO said I had the right codecs.
I uninstalled Angelpotion and Nimo.
Now TFO said I didn't have the right audio codec.
The movie played perfectly.....
I don't know why or what, but if you still have the installer of your codecs, try uninstalling them, and -in case this doesn't help- re-installing them one by one.
Helped me on a number of occasions.

just download k-lite mega codec pack 3.7 it'll solve all your codec problems.
