Black Screen From Dowloaded Video

I downloaded a I-Spy.[TCF]scr.(FULL) from Kazaa, but when I play it all I get is a black screen and no sound.

Is there anyone who can help me out?

P.S. AVICodec cannot identify the codec required and it keeps crashing when I load this file into it.

Try finding a codec or the thing might be corrupt.

That could just be a fake file. a person could just have loaded and packed up the file to fit the size of a movie, but its just a fake movie with a black screen throughout. I dont know why people fake stuff like that.... <_<

the register did an article about gobbles. he claimed that the riaa had made a network of users on kazaa and the other networks to share these fake files to put people off.

I doubt people are stupid enough to download a file that is fake then share it out to other. then again i have been wrong before. :D

The problem begins when you have your computer downloading things for you and you are away. You may leave it on all night downloading and then go to school or work, not checking what you have until later that night...or the next day if something comes up and you don't have the time to do it.
Downloads become available immediately after they're done, so we all may be contributing to the "if all this people have it must be real" factor.

p.s By the way, my experience with kazaa movies is that if I don't have the codec it won't open. If it opens, but with a dark screen is a fake. ( that is not 100% accurate).

That's why we have AVIpreview to prevent stuff like this. we all DL movies right? so we should already have the right codecs, so if its blank in avipreview, its fake. thats my 2 cents :)
