I am having problems playing some of the .avi files. Which Programs work the best, which ones really suck?
I have tried the AVI prog that comes with K++, that kept on giving me errors, I tried WMP but that does not play avi's, tried Realplayer, that only works for some of them, I get error messages with numbers, no text just "Error # ..." and I am not a video expert so what does that mean to me besides nothing at all! What so most of you guys use? Help me out here, Lots of files, no way to play em'
OS = XP

Get Zoom player here (http://www.simtel.net/pub/dl/61119.html)
I believe the no direct links rule applies to copyrighted software only, not freeware. Someone knows different let me know so I won't do it again. Thank you.

well, video codecs can be very troublesome at times..
we all see alot of BS files when downloading internet movies...
i have found that depending on what kind of movie codecs i am trying to view, and what kind of media player i am using, my results will vary widely.
up until recently i never had a problem with any files using
Marbit's Allplayer http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2194-1...tml?tag=lst-0-1 (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2194-10147977.html?tag=lst-0-1)
but i have recently had to switch due to direct show filter probs...relating to XVID codecs
windows media player is often very reliable, but i will never trust microsoft, so right now i use
Fusion media player http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2194-1...tml?tag=lst-0-6 (http://downloads-zdnet.com.com/3000-2194-10109711.html?tag=lst-0-6)
and i never get any errors, assuming i have the right video codecs installed
codecs are the real !@#$ here... after much experimentation i found that i can rely soley on
the nimo codecs pack http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html
which contains almost every video codecs you will ever need, and some you may never ;)
i warn against installing The Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher, which has always given me probs
i hope this helps
