I don't know if anybody else has had this problem, When a D/L music and play it on any music media it slows down right the beginning then progresses to the normal speed, I’ve re-installed all software, but no joy...can anyone help. I’m Running Win98, Media player 9, Acoustica, Realplayer.. <_<

it slows down right at the beginning. sounds like it is trying to buffer the music or load it into ram anyway.
how much ram you got and do you have alot free.
very strange problem still.

erm have you tried reloading your mp3 codec and all that stuff.
see if winamp does it. the only other thing i can think of is your bus setting.
i can't remember the name of it now irq or something like that.
anyway a device hashad it's settings set too high and it is hogging your system bus.
video card and modem companies use these settings to improve performance of there product but it gives no time to other hardware.
powerstrip (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm) use this to change the settings. to a resonable number you will have to find those out for yourself but if i remember it was about 1600.

But why at the beginning and not all the way through? I'II try Winamp and see if that makes any difference, Cheers 4play.

it probably can't load the mp3 quick enough. then once it's in the sound card memory buffer it plays properly.
i will load powerstrip as well and see if i can find the setting that needs changing.

its called the latency of your hardware.
right click the little monitor of powerstrip then
options / adapter info.
then change the adapters until you find one that is set well above the others and try making it smaller.
all my cards are set for 32 apart from my video card which is at 256.
im sorry i forgot you have to change the latency info by editing a system file. have a search through google to tell you how to do it.

i would most definately try uninstalling all those nifty codecs and audio filters, and try sum trial and error
installing only the most neccessary codec at a time (audio)
there are some audio codecs out there that can affect you in this manner

I uninstalled/installed new drivers for the sound card drivers, the problem was still there.... <_<
Played around with the audio codec. Still no joy.. <_<
Install WinAmp.....problem disappeared ..:D
I don't really understand why? But at least it's working.
