If you have any suggestions for things that should be added to the FAQ, them place them here. Preferably with one (or more) links to related topics here on the forum.

One thing that might be worthwhile is to address all these accusations of Kazaa Lite having viruses/adware/trojans et al in the FAQ.

The cause of these trojans are usually either d/ling K-Lite on an unofficial Mirror Site (i.e. those not mentioned on the K-Lite site), d/ling it from a file d/led using K-Lite or by being infected with the trojan before K-Lite is even installed.

My guess - If you put something along the lines of "If K-Lite itself truly did include trojans into it, 100 000s of users would be infected with it", that should add another twist to the vice hopefully attached to the mouths of these little whining... (Please excuse me - I ain't had a good evening :flame: :( )

But that's just my suggestion ;)

EDIT - I just read the part about linking to relevant topics. I'll see what I can grab from the last week, but it's pretty easy to find them? :unsure:

In this topic, almost all of these tips were based on the most posted questions/"problems" by new users: (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/index.php?showtopic=64831) Some of which include problem-solving with KL++ Extentions. I'm constatnley adding to it, so check back often. Also, I've added several posted cases relating the tip(s)

Maybe you could add a complete tutorial on adding/editing/deleting/merging sources in K-Dat as well as most of the other features. I am tired of answering so many mails.

Sometimes files with slightly different filesizes are grouped together as one file in the search results. They are grouped together because their filehash is the same (Kazaa uses filehashes to distinguish files). The difference in filesize is usually caused by some extra data at the end of the file. This usually only happens with MP3 files.
The problem of downloads restarting at 0 KB is caused by the phenomenon described above. There is no solution for this.
The extra groups can be removed with K-Dat to prevent this. I've never had a restart after removing all the extra groups.

You could also add something about being able to fix corrupted frames in video, crc errors, corrupt sectors in .bin files, etc. with KCF. I don't expect a full tutorial or anything, but just mentioning it would be nice. Also, it wouldn't hurt to remove 'Fixing corrupted files' from the FAF.

I usually delete the emails after I answer them, This is to keep the size of my inbox down. But if there is something that I can help you with, let me know. It would be nice if I could redirect people to one central location for answers.

This one is for the Kazaa Technical Information page:

HKCU\Software\Kazaa\Transfer

CacheDiscoveryTime (DWORD) = datetime in seconds since epoch (1970) that Kazaa Lite detected the PeerCache server
CacheHost (DWORD) = IP address of the PeerCache server
CachePort (DWORD) = Port of the PeerCache Server

Reladed Informations:

Kazaa Lite detects PeerCache servers by resolving the DNS name cache.p2p

and here some informations about the protocol that is used to verify the PeerCache server:

request to server:

GET /.p2pinfo HTTP/1.1
Host: X.97.107.78:1214 <span style='color:red'><- IP of PeerCache server
UserAgent: KazaaClient Nov 3 2002 20:29:03
X-Kazaa-Username: FTFakes
X-Kazaa-Network: KaZaA
X-Kazaa-IP: X.148.109:1323
Connection: close</span>

response from server:

HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Content-Length: 608
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Connection: close
Content-Type: application/octet-stream
X-Cache: HIT

CertificateID=11
Owner=NameOfMyISP
ExpireDate=20031031
CacheIP=X.97.107.78 <span style='color:red'><- IP of 1st PeerCache server

ClientIPRange=X.184.0.0 - X.184.255.255
ClientIPRange=X.97.0.0 - X.97.255.255

]s2K5#]Pr'&[kM.u.Mb.-?7.57p5.߄.ʛܧZXOG.. H'.s#.</span>

The green part might be a license code as Kazaa Lite accepts only PeerCache servers with a valid license.

Thanks to my ISP for using PeerCache :D It really speeds up some of my downloads dramatically :)

I think that the link where people can download new supernode lists (www.fasttrackhelp.com) should be included in the FAQ, because over the last few days I've seen people asking that question over and over again.
