BUT its going to take 6hrs :( on top of the 4 hrs it took to download

Then I still have to burn to disk

Is this right or wrong way ????

I think it's Ok, I just don't know why you need to covert it. If it's a 700MB film - the time to convert seems normal for a not too fast PC.
If it's a small movie like 50MB - something's wrong, maybe try onother program like VideoDub or uleas media studio.

That's normal.

Here are the steps I use,
1) Dl the movie
2) I use Uncompress which I believe I got with vcdcreator to extract the audio giving me a 1.somthing gig file.
3) cut that huge file into 75 min sections with TMPGEnc
4) burn it to CD

Now EACH section takes a good 6 hours to encode from .avi to .mpg you will notice that the inverse telecine part takes the longest.

So yes that is normal, you can still use the computer while it's doing that if you wish if you have enough ram and a fast enough processor. Me I leave it alone and go play something on the Playstation :)

You can cut MPEGs in TMPGEnc.
Goto File>MPEG Tools>Merge/Cut

That's the fun part.

I can't for the life of me remember the tab but after you select the video and audio and click next you are at a screen with a bunch of radio buttons, If I remember it's the 2nd radio button from the top, getting there you will see a "screen" with a few buttons below that, the 2 you are looking for are "Start Frame, and End Frame" Click "Start Frame" and then move the slider to about 75 min or 65 min dpending on how big CD-R's you are using, once there (let the movie you see catch up to the slider and make sure the time is what you want) hit "End Frame" *You just cut the file to the size you want* Hit OK and then back to the page with the radio buttons hit the one that says "Other filters (or something close)" and go to the Video tab on top, on this new screen you can select how you want the video to look on your TV, You can cut it to Pan and Scan or whatever you like, I normalls select "Keep Aspect Ratio Full Screen" Once again hit OK then finally click next, select the recording medium you will be using (650 or 700 meg CR-R) and finally click encode, let it do it's stuff (play playstation, take a nap, anything) after a few (read about 6) hours the first part of the movie will be done.

Then you can either burn that part right away or go to the next step. The next step is just like above instead this tim you move the slider first to where you "cut" the movie before and then select "Start "Frame" then slide all the way to the end and select "End Frame" follow everything as before but before you encode make sure you save the file to a different filename, and a few hours later you have bth files ready to burn and watch some SVCD Goodness on TV.

P.S. If your still stuck lemme know and I will post this again but with the correct tabs and buttons :)
