Just get a 40x or 48x Lite-On if it costs less.

The difference in burning time are merely a few seconds.
Besides 52x blank CD-Rs are expensive.

I have I 40x Lite-On and have burned over 600 cds without any problems whatsoever.
I usually burn at 20x, fast enough for me. And I can do other stuff at the same time.

If you PC is 333 celeron check into minimum requirements on any drive you want to buy. You could also save even more money if you find an older model like 24x or 32x or even slower if you can still find any. The reason I say this is that your PC may not be fast enough to burn at higher speeds. Its not really a problem because even at 16x you can burn a whole CD in 5 or 6 minutes.

Even if your computer can't burn at high speed you can always choose a slower setting when you burn. You don't have to burn at the drives fastest settings.

I think you will find that with the Liteon you will be able to use just about any cdr (even budget ones). It wont be as fussy as your Phillips one was.

Those Sony CDRs should be fine.

Edit: to turn off sig.

speed isn't problem i never burn at max anyway.compatability with software like clonyxxl and clonecd and dependabilty are main concerns.writers are cheaper then ever now.

Check out LG also. Thats what I have and I have a lot of mileage on it now. I have never had a problem in terms of compatabilty and I use Clonecd etc.etc.

No coasters and I use budget 'Princo' and 'Cursor' CDR blanks. (well maybe a few coasters from my own mistakes :) )

I had my lite-on 32x12x40 for a year now and I have not burnt a coaster yet.
I would say go with the Lite-on at a slower speed, like a 40x like Paul said. or even an old 32x like mine (old after an year!....Progress ;) )

Peace brotherdoobie B)

the 52x could just be an "overclocked" 48x. Some of the 32x can be made to go 40x. that's just for lite-on tho. Be sure to check clonecd's website, as well as blindwrite to make sure you get a drive that supports EFM. Just about all lite-on 24x or faster will be good. Just get whatever's in your budget. I've got a 48x liteon and haven't screwed up a burn @ max speed on any media, even Riteks.
