View Full Version : Ip
I've got a question. Is there any way to hide your IP address from somebody you are downloading from? I know it's not shown by default, but people with networking tools, etc can see all IP's that are connected to them. I know that the program Filetopia allows you to use a bouncer.

what's a bouncer ?
A bouncer is like a proxy. When you want to download a file using Filetopia, you have the option of routing your request through another maching (called a bouncer) so that if the other user is using a special network monitoring tool, he can't see your true IP address.
socks2http + your ISP proxy might do the same as a bouncer

If you don't have static IP you don't have to worry - they can only figure out your provider, that's all.
If you are in a local network and have a local IP (like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x), again, they can only see your gateway IP which masquerades all users in your network.
Use anonymous socks proxy to completely hide your IP.
What if u do have a static ip and are not on a local network?
