OK, I have never done this before so don't flame me ...... please help!!

I have read the FAQ, I downloaded WinISO, and I already have Powerquest WinImage associated with ISO files.

The software I downloaded is Corel Graphics Suite 11, with the file pop-up info saying it's "three CDs in one ISO file", with the extension .exe. I rename the file to ISO. Nothing will open it and there's no info with the download. So, I tried executing - nada, as expected.

Any help MUCH appreciated.

Can you give more info like file size and exact filename?
Try burning the iso with BlindWrite or CDClone
Thanks -- I just saw that WinISO has a limit of 700MB. !@#!@#!@ I will try something else.

OK the filename is CorelDraw 11 GraphicsSuite 2002.exe and the size is just on 750MB. So, it's too big to burn onto one 700MB CD, and I can't even read the file to break it up or whatever it is you have to do. (I feel stupid, here.) I tried using the Nero image file option, but I got confused!

Thanks.

Well, I downloaded Madden2003.bin.exe and it was something like 796,301KB. BlindWrite wrote it as a CD image to a CD-R just under 700MB, which surprise the hell out of me. Give it a try, it will only cost you another coaster, which is cheaper than a cup of coffee. Also, check to make sure it's not a self-extracting exe.

When I try to run it, it briefly opens the command.com window, but appears to do nothing.

If I try to use Nero (with an image file) it says it's too big. Anyway I am downloading BlindWrite so will see if THAT works. After what I have been through to get it, I hope to God I haven't got a corrupted file!! lmao.

That sounds familiar. I downloaded and ran MOHAA.iso.exe which did the same exact thing with the command line. I used Nero and ran into the same problem you did. I changed the extension to iso and used BlindWrite to write it and it now works like a charm. Goodluck.

Thanks for the suggestions and the company in my hour of need, Darth. I downloaded a copy of BlindWrite off Kazaa and couldn't get THAT to work -- it just sat there looking back at me. **SIGH** I am now downloading direct from their site.

What I would really, really like to find out (but how??) is whether this file is OK or not. Nothing I have seems capable of reading its contents. Usually Drive Image or Nero would handle that sort of thing, but I don't even know if ISO is the right extension. I am SOOOOO frustrated I could SPIT.

Try winrar. It can open both iso files and self-extracting zip/rar files.

You probably DO have to rename thi one to .iso and burn it.

iso/bin files up to 800 MB will fit on a normal 700 MB CD-R.

Thanks for that info, Paul (re the 800MB) which is good to know. I have no idea what I am doing wrong, and guess I must assume, now, that there's some corruption within the file. (I certainly can't open/extract the renamed file with anything, including WinRAR. I have tried renaming it as both IS0 and BIN -- everything says it's an unknown format or corrupt file, so I guess it's corrupt. I will probably never know as I can't afford to download another copy.)

After a whole week, day and night, getting this I am really disappointed.

I did try to burn the file using BlindWrite, which says .50 overburn (whatever that is) is necessary, that being the size over 700MB, but it doesn't say what to DO about hat overburn. It allowed me to go on and start burning. It *says* 100 but the the program freezes and crashes everything and here I am with 2 reboots and 2 more coasters. LOL.

I am officially at the end of my tether. Off now to troll the web for solutions.

I'm finding this a little confusing. I've just done a search for corel graphics, and I've got 3 different results for v11:

217,728KB called CorelDraw 11 ISO.exe
645,970KB called Corel Graphics Suite 11 CD1.exe
727,529KB called CorelDraw 11 GraphicSuite-2002.exe (or corel11 (1).exe)

The last one is probably the one you've downloaded.

There's another for CD2:

179,961KB called Corel Draw 11CD2.rar

Why not search again, and ask the sharer how to extract it ?

I've tried, but got no response

Yes, I got the last one -- which is "3 CDs in 1 ISO" I spent a week, literally, downloading it . I did message the uploaders too but also had no joy. (I only wanted a one word answer to "Did you manage to extract/burn this file?" like, Yes or No, LOL.) Anyway, I am downloading the Draw.iso now, which will take me two more days.

FYI -- Corel Draw Suite comes with the first CD being the program installers (Draw, PhotoPaint etc.) and the other 2 are usually just graphics resources -- clipart, brushes, textures and so on. (I rightfully own a copy of v.9, lol.) So I guess, especially for experienced users, that first CD is all you need.

I feel like biting something.

I think that the point is that it must be some sort of compressed file. I can't see them splitting all that stuff onto 3 cd's if it would fit onto 2.

Unless someone has made their own compilation of files, it must be some sort of archive.

Can I make a suggestion: open a command prompt, go to the folder where you have saved the exe, and run the exe from within the command prompt. You should be able to see any messages it brings up.

And no spitting - it makes you thirsty.

VB

It it is really three isos in one, than you indeed have a big chance it is an archive.

Try renaming it to .rar and open it with winrar.

I tried that, Lynx -- the message is "program too big to fit in memory." LOL. Maybe I need a new computer. ( I'm SURE I need a new computer!!)

Try renaming it to .rar and open it with winrar.

*SIGH* Thanks, Paul -- I got excited there for a minute, but no. I have now renaming it practically every kind of archive (zip, zoo, lzh, rar, uue) but nothing.

The only thing that has TRIED to work with the file (renamed ISO) without laughing has been Blind Write, but as I said that just burns a CD then says "Here, have a coaster once you've pulled the plug and restarted."

LMAO. I guess it's corrupted. Hmm. Corrupt .....

I keep hoping someone who succeeded with this might read this thread!

Thanks fellas,

This may sound stupid, but have u tried to rename it to ace. My winace program tells me what type of archive it has opened in aditional information which u can enable under options menu.

Hope it helps. I HATE CORRUPTED ISOs.

I have tried the following extensions without any luck: ace, zip, arj, lzh, rar, cab, arc, gz, tar, jar, tgz, lha, uue, zoo. Basically everything in winace and it comes back invalid archive. Also tried iso, bin and cif for roxio5 and in nero, with negative results. Who knows.

Try creating a sig2dat hash of your current file and compare it a verified one.

If they are different you have a corrupt file.

Never done that sigdat thing before, so hope I did it right. I have posted a request in Verifieds and will here too in a new thread.

Thanks for all your help.

Nothing is stupid at this stage, LOL. Thanks for the suggesion -- I have Winace, and had tried that in amongst all the others. Sigh. This is the first ISO file I have ever downloaded -- trust me to kick in with a mother HUGE thing.

Today is Febuary 11, 2003 and I spend all night down loading this file, all 727+ mgs of it. I too have run into the problem of not being able to open it and wonder if you ever resolved this issue or is the file just corrupt? I've read the entire posting hoping to find a solution. If the file is bad is there anyway we can let everyone know. Right now two people are downloading it from me.
Thanks for everyones help.
