Now I've been using eMule a while now, mainly because what I try to get isn't on Kazaa for whatever reason. Problem? It takes about three weeks to download something. ;) I've done all the tweaking to make it go faster, but it doesn't work well enough. On top of that, I'll end up downloading something for a few minutes before going back to the bottom of the queue. Sometimes I don't even have to do anything. I went from 8 to 215 without getting a single byte. <_< Does anyone else have these problems with eMule? I always hear people say it's good, reliable, etc. Maybe it just hates me. I've been on queue for about 48 hours now..and I have 12 megabytes of my 63 megabyte file. And 0 bytes of my 44 megabyte file. Is there some other P2P program that just works...better? ;)

How many files are you downloading at one time? What are your max source per file, max connections, limits on upload and downloads, and how many connections do you look for every 5 sec? Oh yeah what is your clientid at?

Right now? None. Both are waitlisted. Max sources are hard limit: 400, soft limit: 360, UDP-limit: 100.
Max connections: 500. Limit on download: 0, limit on upload: 10kb. I don't have any connections to look for every 5 seconds, or if I do, I don't see it on preferences. ;) I always have a high id, currently it's 1140741144.

Well since your hard limit is 400 and you have two files downloading go ahead and put your max connect at 800. Shouldn't slow your pc at all. Are you running a mod? If you are which one? There should be a setting in prefrences where you can change how many files it looks for every five seconds. I think the default is twenty. I have mine set at 30. As far you getting dropped down on the queue, your client id isn't that high so if soemone with a higher id comes in it's going to boot you off. My id is 3782856216 and that is the lowest it has been in a while. If you have cable then you might want to jump your upload limit up to around 30 or 40 for a while. Another thing you might try is just let people upload from you without download for a few hours (like 2 or 3) and than try downloading again...
I did that last time i used eMule Plus and I got around 70 kB/s downloads and before i did that i only ever got to like 15 kB/s

I have only one reason not to use emule, edonkey, emonkey :P and other stuff like that:
when I do a test search for one of my favorite bands, i usually find NOTHING there or just a few results. Whereas on Kazaa I get tens and hundreds of results. SO, no matter how fast, customizable and good those proggies are, they are shit FOR ME. I am sure someone can find them useful for particular type of media. But Kazaa is definitely the best choice for music.

Nobody ever said eMule (or the donkey network actually) was a good place to find music... And If you ask anybody that has used the donkey network for awhile, they'll tell you it's not a good place to get music..
It's best for finding games, OS's, pr0n movies and new movie releases

Edited to add: Should I get a mod or something too? I only average about 1kb/second on eMule. :(

Alright, I upgraded to 0.26a. But there isn't much difference. Why oh why must I get rare files, and only rare files? :lol:

If you just install over the old one you shouldn't lose your .met files, that's what i've always done with mine and never lost one yet...

You don't have to get/use a mod, but if you want one, I like eMule Plus (http://www.emuleplus.tk) best and another good one is Tarod's mod (http://indigo.retemail.es/)...
They have a list of mods at emule-project's forums (http://www.emule-project.net/board/) (you have to register before you can read anything there though)

I would theroreticly like EMule because theoreticly there are more games and just more good stuff out there on EMule. But I had the same problems you had. I quite simply cant download files and it hates me. I however did not spend much time trying to troubleshoot... I just went back to K-Lite. ;)

I prefer K-Lite..you actually get your files. <_< At this rate it'll be next week before I get what I'm trying to. If only there was a more varied selection available on K-Lite...while it's neat for me to be the *only* one with a number of files, it's kind of annoying...because I don't have my computer running all the time for those files to become widespread.

And I still think there should be hash-files for RPG books. Preferably White Wolf. :D
