Is .rmvb Files Better Than .avi Files?

Is .rmvb files better than .avi files?

Cos .rmvb seem to be smaller. 45 minutes of excellent quality is only 150MB.
Making an average movie 300 -- 400MB.

Are they the future?

j/k I really like both but most rmvb have foreign subs at the bottom, I don't like that but other wise great compression

and if you haven't seen one yet be prepared to be shocked at the quality, I was if that tells you anything
