Im sorry, you guys can flame away if you want. but ive been using Klite for like 3 years now, and i always wondered what all these things are liek codecs. what is a codec anyway? i never understood how to use them? :angry:

YOU don't use them they are files "plugins" used by programs that need them to run things like movies and sounds plus many other software item's.

A codec is a file used to encode or decode a media file. To encode a media file compresses it, and to decode does the opposite, enabling you to watch the media file. There are so many codecs because everyone has their opinion on which one can achive the greatest compression without too much loss in quality.

To "use" a codec, you need to be sure it is properly installed. That's what the codec packs do. It takes care of that for you. Then you need a capable player. There are tons of them. Once the codecs are installed, the media player should automatically recognize what codec to use for which file. Easy stuff.
