Sorry if this has been discussed, I'm a newbie to this board and so far searching didn't get me to any thread discussing this. I found fake files are annoying and wondering is that a better way to deal with it....

Since sig2dat could be used to identified/verified the files to be download, could p2p app (e.g. KaZaaLite) also implement some thing like a blocking list, where we put the hash of the fake files? And when user choose the file to download and it would be checked against the hash in the blocking list....is this feasible?

Or is there the only way to avoid fake file is to check the board message frequently, or preview the file everytime while downloading....?!

Thanks!

Do you mean like an updatable ref file, or just individuals putting fakes in their own Sig2Dat database?

I think an updatable ref file would be great, but the problem is people are always changing names on fakes and creating new ones, pretty soon it would be as large as a virus definiton file, and need to be updated as often as one.
