Incomplete Video Dat Files

I have several partial video .dat files in my shared folder.
What is the solution, if any, to obtain a definitive viewing file and saving it?

Rename them by changing the files names and extensions. (use an extension of .avi or .mpg for movies and a name of your choice, but if you want to share them be sure to name them sth like Partial Download Name)

Or you can extract data from a .dat file using K-Dat, duoble click it or right click extract data.

Thanks Autumn Fox; I will try this week-end and will clear my shared folder of this "old" incomplete files.
