if ur using socks5 proxy for just kazaa and not ie, how do u tell whether ur behind the proxy or not?

does it slow ur downloads down? cos i know using a proxy in IE slows it down. is it the same for kazaa?

It depends on the proxy. If you're the only user of a 10 gigabit proxy with fiber optic, then you won't feel anything. If you're one of a bunch of users on a proxy with 56K, then you will.
