/msg Nickserve Trouble

i have registered my nick cos i like to use the fast servers such as absurd irc, but when i join the channel it says i must identify with a registered nick. i type /msg nickserve identify password but nothing happens. is there anyway i can change my password or nick?? i may have typed the password in wrong when registering. hope you can help thanks.

it's spelled NICKSERV or NS for short
